Fans and blowers provide air for ventilation and industrial process requirements. Fans generate a pressure to move air (or gases) against a resistance caused by ducts, dampers, or other components in a fan system. The fan rotor receives energy from a rotating shaft and transmits it to the air Fan and blower selection depends on the volume flow rate, pressure, type of material handled, space limitations, and efficiency. Fan efficiencies differ from design to design and also by types. Typical ranges of fan efficiencies are given in the table.

Housing.
The housing forms the smooth interior of the fan due to the rolled scroll method of manufacture. The housing consists of MS sheets of welded construction stiffed with MS sheets of welded construction stiffed with MS angles wherever required . The housing has on its front side inlet a cover plate to facilitate easy fixing and removal of impeller from shaft.
Inlet and outlet flanges are provided on the housing to facilitate easy connection of the fan to the system.
Impeller.
The Impeller have deep, wide blades most efficient and very rigid. The rotors are of welded construction. The material used is usually steel plate. Rotors are statically and dynamically balanced. Cast iron hub is bolted to the rotor.
Drive. Single Inlet, Single Eidth fan from size 2" diameter to 36½" diameter can be directly driven with thye rotor overhung on the motor shaft. All other SISW and DIDW fans can be operated by direct drive through flexible coupling.
Bearings.
Electromech Technical Services fan bearing are of several types for various classes of work, but generally of Double Row self aligning type ball bearings of adequate size.

Precise determination of air-flow and required outlet pressure are most important in proper selection of fan type and size. The air-flow required depends on the process requirements; normally determined from heat transfer rates, or combustion air or flue gas quantity to be handled. System pressure requirement is usually more difficult to compute or predict. Detailed analysis should be carried out to determine pressure drop across the length, bends, contractions and expansions in the ducting system, pressure drop across filters, drop in branch lines, etc. These pressure drops should be added to any fixed pressure required by the process (in the case of ventilation fans there is no fixed pressure requirement). Frequently, a very conservative approach is adopted allocating large safety margins, resulting in over-sized fans which operate at flow rates much below their design values and, consequently, at very poor efficiency.
Once the system flow and pressure requirements are determined, the fan and impeller type are then selected. For best results, values should be obtained from the manufacturer for specific fans and impellers.
The choice of fan type for a given application depends on the magnitudes of required flow and static pressure. For a given fan type, the selection of the appropriate impeller depends additionally on rotational speed. Speed of operation varies with the application. High speed small units are generally more economical because of their higher hydraulic efficiency and relatively low cost. However, at low pressure ratios, large, low-speed units are preferable.
The forward curve centrifugal fan travels at a relatively slow speed and generally is used for producing high volumes at low static pressure.

Very Low Pressure High Volume
(Range 1000 - 10,00,000 CMH, Pressure 40 - 200 mm wg)
Backward inclined fans travel about twice the speed of the forward curved fan as previously indicated by the velocity vector diagram. The normal selection range of the backward inclined fan is approximately 40-85% of wide open CMH Maximum static efficiency of about 80% generally occurs close to the edge
of its normal operating range. Generally, the larger the fan the more efficient for a given selection.
The magnitude of surge for a BI fan is greater than for an FC fan. Advantages of the BI fan are higher
efficiency and nonoverloading power curve. The power curve generally reaches a maximum in the middle of the normal operating range, thus overloading is normally not a problem.Inherently stronger design makes it suitable for higher static pressure operation.

Depending on the fan inlet air temperature id fan drive is chosen. It could be either

Tube axial fans are used where high volume of air and power consumption is delivered at substantialy low pressure. Typical application of these fans is in factories and HVAC application. Electromech Techinical Services make tube axial fan impellers are made out of aluminium casting. Special care is taken during machining and Balancing of fans. This ensures smooth operation with reduced noise and vibration. Motor mounting can be direct or pulley drive based on customers requirement. Along with our standard tube axial blowers /fans, we also manufacture axial blowers for special application such as at high temperature and with S.S. Fan and body.
